The Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce expressed its deep gratitude and appreciation to the American Chamber of Commerce, represented by its Vice President, Mr. John Murphy, for its responsible stance calling for the complete cancellation of the Caesar Act imposed on Syria, which has caused direct harm to civilians and hindered the development process in the country.
In an official statement, the Union affirmed that this initiative reflects a deep understanding of the political and economic transformations taking place in Syria at the present stage, noting the importance of such positions in opening new horizons for economic cooperation and joint construction in a way that serves the interests of both peoples and enhances regional stability.
The Federation explained that the invitation came at a pivotal moment after the fall of the regime, which was embarrassed by economic sanctions, and the long suffering that followed, which affected the lives of citizens and the productive infrastructure in Syria. It considered that the position of the American Chamber of Commerce constitutes an important step towards economic reopening and the return of American and international companies to contribute to the reconstruction of the country and to invest in the promising opportunities in the Syrian market.
The Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce stressed Damascus’ readiness for full cooperation with the United States to build bridges of trust and strengthen trade and investment partnerships, stressing that Syria looks forward to opening a new economic chapter based on positive interaction and direct communication in order to achieve common interests and contribute to the stability and development of the region.
The Union concluded its statement by emphasizing that this American initiative represents the beginning of a new economic path between Damascus and Washington, expressing its hope that steps toward openness and the development of relations will continue in a way that serves both peoples and restores vitality to international cooperation with Syria.
